Is the Swiss tourism industry on the right path to giving Indian tourists the expected hospitality?

Switzerland – the country which represents luxury and a romantic honeymoon – this is how Bollywood represents our country in more than one movie. The film industry has made a lot of promotion for Switzerland. According to Suisse Tourisme, India is growing to become the biggest travel market in the world; and Switzerland will surely take advantage. In 2009 there were 324’000 rooms sold to Indians in Switzerland and the number is increasing.

Unfortunately not every Swiss tourism organization is happy about this growing market sector. To understand the reasons for this unhappiness we need to understand the background of religion and culture in India. After that we will find out what the Swiss tourism organizations are doing to receive Indian tourists properly.
