Hotel Tonight – Mobile Application

Hotel Tonight is a mobile application for last-minute hotel bookings. It allows  cutomers to make great deals (up to 70% off) and the hotel to fill its rooms. Bookings can be made in 12 countries (including Switzerland) and in 150 destinations. The application is available for iPhone and Android and is free. It is very fast and easy to use. Furthermore, bookings can be made until 2am. More than 9.5 mio users downloaded this app since 2010.

A l’heure où la technologie prend de plus en plus d’importance dans notre quotidien, tous les domaines se voient contraints de se mettre à jour pour rester dans la course. L’hôtellerie l’a bien compris en s’appropriant de nouvelles technologies afin de rendre plus agréable le séjour de ses hôtes. L’évolution des téléphones portables a permis de créer des systèmes de verrouillage/déverrouillage de portes grâce à une application Smartphone. Certains hôteliers, tel que le Skypark Central de Séoul, se sont désormais emparés de cette innovation. On trouve diverses solutions de verrouillage/déverrouillage, à savoir : le premier système de verrouillage détecte le Smartphone dès l’entrée de ce dernier dans le périmètre et le second déverrouille la porte sur simple pression d’un bouton via l’application prévue à cet effet. Pour les personnes ne possédant pas de Smartphone, il y a toujours la possibilité d’obtenir la traditionnelle carte magnétique.

Mobile Devices are omnipresent more than ever. There exists an application for everything you can imagine. Of course there are also various applications, which are supposed to make travelling easier or add value to a trip. They are supposed to provide the consumer with possibilities to book and get information wherever he is. Nowadays, providing an application is almost essential to major tourism companies. It shows that the company is happening and going with technology trends.

Some Categories of Travel Apps: Currency converter, Hotel booking, Flight status and booking, (City-)Guides, Hotel Check-in, Airport Apps, Maps …

In our presentation we are showing the advantages and disadvantages, the present situation and the potential of applications in the future.
